বঙ্গানুবাদ:-
প্রথম স্তবক:-
এক সাধারন শিশু যে কিনা মৃদুভাবে নিঃশ্বাস নেয় এবং যার প্রত্যেকটি অঙ্গ-প্রত্যঙ্গে প্রাণের স্পন্দন অনুভব হয় সেই মৃত্যু সম্পর্কে কী জানে?
দ্বিতীয় স্তবক:-
আমি একটি ছোট্ট মেয়ের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করেছিলাম যে কিনা ওই কুটিরে থাকতো তার বয়স আট। সে বলল। তার চুলগুলো কোঁকড়ানো এবং গোছা করে মাথার পিছন দিক দিয়ে বাঁধা।
তৃতীয় স্তবক:-
তার মধ্যে একটি গ্রাম্য ভাবছিল এবং সে গ্রাম্য ভাবে পোশাক পরিধান করেছিল।তার চোখটা খুবই সুন্দর ছিল এবং তার সৌন্দর্য আমাকে যথেষ্ট আনন্দিত করল।
চতুর্থ স্তবক:-
আমি জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, “ওহে, ছোট্ট খুকি, তোমরা ক ভাই বোন?”
সে অবাক হয়ে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে উত্তর দিলো “আমরা সাত ভাই বোন।“
পঞ্চম স্তবক:-
আমি তখন বললাম “আচ্ছা বলতো তারা সবাই কোথায়?”
সে বলল “আমরা সাত ভাই বোন। তাদের মধ্যে দুজন Conway এ থাকে আর দুজন সমুদ্রে গিয়েছে।“
ষষ্ঠ স্তবক:-
“আমাদের মধ্যে দুজন ওই গির্জা সংলগ্ন কবরে শুয়ে রয়েছে, আমার এক ভাই এবং আমার এক বোন। এবং আমি ওই গির্জা সংলগ্ন কুটিরে তাদের কাছেই আমার মায়ের সঙ্গে বসবাস করি।“
সপ্তম স্তবক:-
আমি বললাম, “তুমি বললে যে দুজন Conway এ থাকে আর দুজন সমুদ্র গিয়েছে , তাহলে তোমরা সাত জন হলে কি করে ছোট্ট খুকি?”
অষ্টম স্তবক :-
তখন ছোট্ট মেয়েটি উত্তর দিলো, “আমরা সাত ভাই বোন কারণ তাদের মধ্যে যে দুজন গির্জা সংলগ্ন কবরে শুয়ে রয়েছে গির্জা সংলগ্ন গাছের তলায়।
নবম স্তবক:-
আমি বললাম “ওহে খুকি , তোমার কি মাথা খারাপ হয়ে গিয়েছে,। তুমি তো বললে তোমার দু’ভাইবোন গির্জা সংলগ্ন কবরে শুয়ে রয়েছে, তাহলে তোমরা তো পাঁচজন হলে।“
দশম স্তবক :-
ছোট্ট মেয়েটি উত্তর দিয়ে বলল, “তাদের কবরগুলো এখনো পর্যন্ত সবুজ রয়েছে এবং তাদের সেই সবুজ কবরগুলো এখনও দেখা যাচ্ছে।“ “আমার মায়ের বাড়ি থেকে বারো পা দুরে তারা পাশাপাশি শুয়ে রয়েছে।“
একাদশ স্তবক:-
আমি বললাম, “তাহলে তোমরা সাতজন হলো কি করে?” “যদি তাদের দুজন স্বর্গেই থাকে তো?” তখন সেই ছোট্ট মেয়েটি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে উত্তর দিলো, “ও বাবু! আমরা সাতজন।“
দ্বাদশ স্তবক:-
কিন্তু আমি বললাম, “ তারা তো মৃত। যারা মৃত হয়, তাদের আত্মাগুলি স্বর্গে থাকে।“ কিন্তু সেই ছোট্ট মেয়েটি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আমার কথা কাড়িয়া নিয়ে এবং নিজের ইচ্ছা শক্তি প্রয়োগ করে বলল, “ না আমরা সাতজন।“
