পৃথিবীর অনেক নীচে বাস করতেন মৃতের দেশের রাজা প্লুটো। তিনি প্রায়ই কোনো-কোনো দেবীকে তাঁর কাছে এসে থাকতে বলতেন, কিন্তু কোনো দেবীই মৃতদের মাঝে এসে থাকতে সম্মত হতেন না। তাই প্লুটো ছিলেন খুবই একাকী।

The Cartman and His Cart
One day a cart-man was driving his cart along a muddy way. Suddenly the wheels of the cart sank in mud and the cart did not move. Two bullocks tried to pull the cart but their efforts were in vain. The cart-ma was helpless and he started praying to God. At his prayer, God appeared before him in disguise as a wise man. He did not help him but asked him to put his shoulders on the wheel. The cart-man did so and applied his force to pull the wheel. Finally, the cart began to move. The cart-man expressed his gratitude to God as he learned a lesson that self help is the best help and God helps those who help themselves.

Tree Plantation Drive in My School
On 5 June, on the occasion of World Environment Day a tree-plantation programme was held at Sister Nivedita School located at Baghbazaar, just beside ‘Girish Bhaban. The programme was inaugurated by the Headmistress of our school by planting a sapling of gulmohor tree in our school compound. Later students and teachers planted one hundred saplings within and around the school compound. The Chairman of Sarada Math was present as the chief guest. A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening to mark the day. I planted few saplings in the school compound. I also took part in dance drama. Everyone present there enjoyed the whole programme.
